How we handle your personal information. Plain and short.
Who we are
Northwake Studio (665 Raasblaar Street, Roodeplaat, Pretoria, 0035, South Africa) is the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us about privacy at hello@northwakestudio.com.
What we collect
- What you send us through our forms or by email: your name, work email, company, website, project details, and any budget or timing information you choose to share.
- Information needed to deliver and invoice a project if you become a client.
- Basic technical logs kept by our web host (such as IP address and browser type) for security.
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and our fonts are hosted on our own server.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal: steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- To deliver and invoice work: performance of a contract and legal obligations such as tax records.
- To keep the website secure: legitimate interests.
We do not sell your information or use it for automated decisions about you. We only send marketing emails if you ask for them.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run the studio: our form handling service (Formspree), our web hosting provider and our email provider. Some may process data outside the UK, EU or South Africa; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires, typically up to 7 years for financial records.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and other applicable laws (including South Africa’s POPIA), you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. Email hello@northwakestudio.com and we will reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), the authority in your EU country, or South Africa’s Information Regulator.
Changes
We will update this notice if how we use personal information changes, and show the date at the top.
